南予医誌 Vol.19 No. 1 2019-66-A case of constrictive pericarditis in a patient with a history of paragonimiasisAbstract A 66-year-old female was admitted to our hospital because of palpitations and general fatigue. Chest computed tomography revealed severe calcification of the pericardium. In addition, hemodynamic measurements showed that the diastolic pressure was equal between the left and right ventricles, and that the blood pressure curve exhibited the typical dip and plateau “square-root configuration” of constrictive pericarditis. She underwent surgical pericardectomy and cardiac function improved immediately. We presume that the pericardial calcification was attributable to childhood paragonimiasis; she was positive for serum antibodies to Paragonimus westermanni and had no history of tuberculosis, radiation therapy, or thoracotomy. The T-SPOT test was negative.
