南予医誌 Vol.19 No. 1 2019-16-Questionnaire survey to determine whether hospital staff in the Yawatahama-Ozu area would work in other hospitals during a major disasterAbstract We sent questionnaires to 17 hospital superintendents to determine whether they would permit their staff to work in other hospitals (and, if so, how many) if those staff could reach their own hospital because of a disaster, and whether they would accept staff of other hospitals as temporary workers under such circumstances. Nine (52.9%) of the superintendents indicated that they would allow staff to work elsewhere and ten (58.8%) would temporarily accept staff of other hospitals. A total of 287 workers in the 17 hospitals stated that they would temporarily work elsewhere in the case of a disaster. Thus, a majority of hospital superintendents and many hospital staff supported work versatility during a disaster, for which forward planning would be appropriate.(Nan-yo Med J 2019; 19: 8-16.)Keywords: Securing adequate hospital staff during a disaster;Workplace versatility during a disaster;Difficulties in staff access to hospitals.Genro OCHI1), Kumi KAWAGUCHI2), Kumi ISSIMI2),Naomi YAMAMOTO2), Emi KANOH2)1) Dept. of Anesthesiology and Emergency Medicine, Yawatahama City General Hospital2) Dept. of Emergency Medicine and Nursing Department, Yawatahama City General Hospital
