南予医誌 Vol.16 No. 1 2015-88-Abstract We report a case of penetrating renal injury due to a stab wound successfully treated by selective transcatheter arterial embolization of the right renal artery branch. The case was a female in her 50s, who was stabbed in the right lumbar area with a kitchen knife and was brought to our hospital. A contrast-enhanced computed tomography scan conrmed that the stab wound had reached the inferior pale of the right kidney with massive arterial bleeding. Selective transcatheter arterial embolization of the right renal artery branch was performed using microcoils, and the bleeding was controlled. The postoperative course was favorable, and the patient recovered and was discharged from the hospital 20 days after the injury.(Nan-yo Med J 2015; 16: 83-88.)Penetrating renal injury due to a lumbar stab wound successfully treated by transcatheter ar-terial embolization: a case reportTakashi TAKEGUCHI1), Yuma INOUE1), Takaaki IWAMURA1), Akira FUKUI1), Naoki ISHIDA2)1) Department of Radiology2) Department of CardiosurgeryUwajima City Hospital1-1Goten-machi, Uwajima, Ehime 798-8510, JAPAN
