岡本、他:宇和島圏の小児医療南予医誌 Vol.16 No. 1 2015-11-Abstract Pediatric care appears to be one of the largest problems in regional medicine. This review describes the current and general state of pediatric medicine, particularly pediatric emer-gency medical care in the rural area of south Ehime Prefecture called the Uwajima medical district. We present statistical data for Ehime Prefecture and the Uwajima medical district in Japan. The number of pediatricians in the Uwajima medical district per child was close to the average in Japan. However, this area is larger than other areas. Thus, pediatric medical care in this district and its sustainability must be considered within the limitations of the number of pediatricians and the characteristics of the region.
