南予医誌 Vol.15 No. 1 2014-96-Abstract We report a rare case of gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) in the lesser omentum. The patient is a 61-year-old female. Abdominal contrast enhanced CT scan showed a tu-mor about a 20 mm in diameter adjacent to the posterior wall of the stomach. We diagnosed abdominal tumor or enlarged lymph node and recommended surgery. However, we took a wait-and-see approach because we did not obtain the patient’s agreement. Eight years later, abdominal CT scan showed that the tumor was about 43 mm in diameter. Then we recommended surgery again, and laparosopic tumorectomy was performed. The tumor cells were immunoreactive for KIT (CD117), CD34. Thus we diagnosed this case as GIST of the lesser omentum.(Nan-yo Med J 2014; 15: 88-96.)A rare case of gastrointestinal stromal tumor in the lesser omentumYu HASHIMOTO, Tsutao OKAMOTO, Masakazu HANAYAMA, Atsushi YUKIMOTO, Yoshiyasu OBATA, Tetsuya TANIHIRA, Eiji TAKESHITA, Hirotaka SEIKE, Mikio ICHIKAWA Department of GastroenterologyUwajima City HospitalGoten-machi, Uwajima, Ehime, 798-8510, Japan
