南予医誌 Vol.15 No. 1 2014-72-Abstract A 56-year-old man had been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and diabetic nephropathy with increased urination. He visited to our hospital because of progressive generalized edema. On admission, his laboratory data showed hyperglycemia, preproliferative diabetic retinopathy, diabetic nephropathy, high blood pressure, hyperlipemia, and decreased car-diac function. He was prescribed a diet with energy less than 1800 kcal (30.6 kcal/IBWkg), protein 40 g (0.7 g/IBWkg), and salt 6 g. Because he was living alone and his dietary habit consisted of home meal replacements, continued dietary therapy after leaving the hospital was considered to be difcult. In consideration of his living environment, effective dietary therapy was established.(Nan-yo Med J 2014; 15: 65-72.)Dietary intervention in a single-living man with diabetic nephropathyMiki SUGIMOTO1), Yuki YAMAZAKI1), Sayuri SHIMIZU1), Katsura YAKUSHIJI1), Kiyo AKAMATSU1), Hiroko OOSUGI1), Mayumi OKAZAKI1), Fumiko FUJII1), Tohru EGUCHI2), Shozo MIYAUCHI2) 1) Department of Food Science and Nutrition2) Department of Internal MedicineUwajima City Hospital1-1 Gotenmachi, Uwajima, Ehime 798-8510, JAPAN
