南予医誌 Vol.14 No. 1 2013-46-Abstract A 33-year-old man who had injected heated commercially available liquid Vaseline into the prepuce of his penis about 6 years previously visited our department. He complained of difculty with sexual intercourse resulting from the excessive enlargement of his penis dur-ing erection. The rst examination revealed that the prepuce of his penis was enlarged, his penis was club-shaped from top to bottom, and the glans was buried beneath the prepuce as in phimosis. Circumcision of the edematous prepuce around the glans was performed under lumbar anesthesia. Microscopic examination of the circumcised tissue showed the presence of histiocytes with foam cells and inltration of lymphocytes. In addition, histio-cytes were observed around many small, vacant spaces that were assumed to contain Vase-line. Therefore, the patient was diagnosed with a chronic inammatory reaction that was caused by the presence of a foreign body (Vaseline). After undergoing an operation, he was able to perform sexual intercourse without problems. Serious complications such as human adjuvant disease have been reported after exposure to foreign materials. Therefore, it is necessary to provide information about the risks of self-injection of foreign bodies into the prepuce of the penis.(Nan-yo Med J 2013;14:40-46.)Injection of Vaseline into the prepuce of the pe-nis: a case reportRyuta WATANABE1), Kouji INADA1), Yokihiko YAMASHITA1),Akihiro OKA1), Shouichi MATSUKAGE2), Mamoru NAKANISHI2)1) Department of Urology2) Department of Clinical LaboratoryUwajima City HospitalGoten-machi, Uwajima, Ehime 798-8510, JAPAN
