Laboratory ndings were as follows: TG = 3454 mg/dL, T-C = 354 mg/dL, HDL-C = 32 mg/dL, LDL-C = undetectable, BUN = 58 mg/dL, and Cr = 2.03 mg/dL. Post-heparin plasma LPL activity was undetectable. Dietary protein was limited to 40 g/day (0.8 g/kg of body weight), and dietary lipids were limited to <25 g/day (<15% of total energy). This diet therapy reduced the TG level from 3454 to 884 mg/dL by 2 weeks after admission. Although it was difcult to maintain compliance with the protein- and lipid-restricted diet therapy, TG maintained the level at <1000 mg/dL with the dietary supplementation and periodic nutrition education.(Nan-yo Med J 2013;14:47-53.)Diet therapy for a patient with lipoprotein li-pase deficiency and chronic kidney disease: a case reportMayumi OKAZAKI1),Yuki YAMAZAKI1), Sayuri SHIMIZU1),Katsura YAKUSHIJI1), Miki SUGIMOTO1), Kiyo AKAMATSU1),Hiroko OOSUGI1), Fumiko FUJII1)Tohru EGUCHI2), Shozo MIYAUCHI2)1) Department of Food Science and Nutrition2) Department of Internal MedicineUwajima City HospitalGoten-machi, Uwajima, Ehime 798-8510, JAPAN
